My father introduced golf to me when I was three years old. He would take me to play 18-holes and if I was good, I would receive a Snickers after the front nine and a Frosty Root Beer after the round. For the next few years, I continued to follow along with my Dad for the coke and Snickers and would take a few swings too. But during a family vacation to Great Britain, I persuaded Dad (with Mom’s help) to allow me to play golf with him at the birthplace of golf; St Andrews, Scotland. On that fateful day, the “golf bug bit me” and started my love and passion for the game of golf.
Through high school, I was fortunate enough to be taught by two instructors: Tom Treese and Dan Shelton, PGA. Because of these two coaches, they guided me and my progress to earn a college golf scholarship at Huntingdon College. While at Huntingdon, I earned All-American honors twice and our team won two National Championships. After college, it took me six years before I took the plunge in the professional ranks. Unfortunately due to shoulder injuries, my professional career ended before it really took off.
Before I help someone with their golf swing and game, I need to know specific information about my student. Without this information, I am not able to help someone improve and reach their goals in the quickest way possible. I start this process with a New Student Assessment.
Just like when you go see the doctor because you are not feeling well, his staff takes your vitals, questions you about your symptoms and your health history before the doctor arrives to prescribe medicine. My approach follows a similar approach, which allows me to KNOW how to help rather than GUESS or give incorrect instruction.
Group classes are a great way to start to play golf!. You have the chance to meet people at a similar stage in their golfing development, and learn by watching the progress of others. Group classes also have a slightly more relaxed atmosphere and can be great fun… not to mention our classes are less expensive than individual coaching.
Performance memberships are built for results, whether you are a weekend warrior, tournament player, or looking for that massive improvement in handicap.
